The popular battle royale mode in the title from Epic Games, Fortnite is coming to mobile platforms. The developer is attempting to tap into the portable resource, taking advantage of the craze surrounding the genre on PC and console. Both the survival sandbox and battle royale modes will be available at no cost to mobile owners.
Fortnite: Battle Royale has proven to be a success for the developer and publisher Epic Games, taking on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and coming out on top — if Twitch viewers and concurrent player figures are anything to go by. The Unreal engine, interestingly, powers both games making Epic quite the company in the addictive genre.
How easy Fortnite will be to play on mobile is yet to be seen. It’s difficult to port solid PC games to mobile, especially action titles.
Those with an iPhone or iPad will be able to sign up to receive an invitation from March 12 to play an early access version of the mobile port. Android will arrive later, “in the coming months.”
